The debate that Easter is considered Pagan Spring Equinox and not A Christian Tradition

Easter is considered Pagan and not A Christian Tradition As anything such as the celebration of Yule etc…  Again the old time religion seems to step forward in its glory of being responsible for many celebrations that have been adopted by Christianity over the centuries.

To those that are biblical scholars and believers, the celebration of Easter cannot be found in the bible, however, it is found in Ancient Pagan Traditions.

spring_equinox_card

Pagans have always revered and honored the spring, because through time we saw the sun increasing in power, animals mating, and plant life reviving and rebirth. With their minds totally blinded by a holy God, they exalted animal and human fertility, reproduction, and sexual love. Goddesses of love and fertility were worshipped with spring festivals and gross immorality. The Roman Catholic Church, seeking to “Christianize” the pagans, gave new names and meanings to the old pagan festivals to keep their unregenerated members happy. Any encyclopedia will confirm this brief synopsis, and we have provided some links to help you at the bottom of this document. But Bible Christians are plainly told to reject any association with pagan religion or any religious things highly esteemed by the world. Any participation in them is spiritual adultery and highly offensive to the most high God.

The Oxford English Dictionary reads, “Easter. The name is derived from Eostre, the name of a goddess whose festival was celebrated at the vernal equinox; her name shows that she was originally the dawn-goddess.” Compton’s Encyclopedia reads, “Our name Easter comes from Eostre, an ancient Anglo-Saxon goddess, originally of the dawn. In pagan times an annual spring festival was held in her honor.” Academic American Encyclopedia reads, “According to the Venerable Bede, the name Easter derived from the pagan spring festival of the Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre.” Though the King James Bible has the word “Easter” in Acts 12:4, it was used only as a synonym for the Passover, or the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which was the event under consideration, as Herod waited for the right time to kill Peter and not offend the Jews (Acts 12:1-3). The OED confirms this use of “Easter” as a synonym for the Jewish Passover.

The New Moon Report

The New Moon Report
~April-2009~

night_sky

Thursday, March 26, 2009
The Moon is our constantly changing companion. She lifts our tides and lights our nights. She reflects our needs, moods and daily deeds.

StarIQ cofounder Jeff Jawer looks at astrological events for this lunar cycle to describe energy patterns for the month ahead. This is a big picture view of the general cosmic weather that affects us all.

New Moon in Aries
Thursday, March 26, 9:06 am PDT, 12:06 pm EDT

The energetic New Moon in Aries is a shower of sparks spewing new ideas and impulses to launch projects and push life in a fresh direction. This event, though, is a sweet and sour mix with loving Venus conjunct the lunation and shadowy Pluto a tense 90-degree square away. The message is that rewards come from exploiting underused talents and resources and that letting go of objects, activities, values and people that you no longer need is necessary to make room for what you want to come next.

Venus conjunct Sun
Friday, March 27

The love planet’s backward cycle brings it between the Earth and Sun, aligning identity and attraction to heighten our desires. This could signal a return to old sources of pleasure so you can update them to satisfy your present needs. Venus squares Pluto and opposes Saturn on April 3 and 4, intensifying the pressure to transform relationships, reduce expenses or extract something of value from a difficult situation.

Mercury in Taurus
Thursday, April 9, 7:22 am PDT, 10:22 am EDT

Thinking becomes more practical now as ideas come down from the clouds and are simplified for real world application. Conversations focus on facts, providing practical insights, yet imagination may suffer in this pragmatic intellectual environment. Stubborn resistance to new concepts can ground flights of fancy and hinder innovation, suggesting the importance of flexibility to maintain an open mind.

Full Moon in Libra
Thursday, April 9, 7:56 am PDT, 10:56 am EDT
The accommodating Libra Moon’s opposition to the Sun in spontaneous Aries puts relationship issues on the front burner. The question is when to follow your own instincts and when to consider the input of others. The possible polarization of self-interest and socialization is significantly reduced by wise Jupiter’s harmonious trine to the Moon. This combination brings a wider perspective that encompasses individual freedoms and collective needs that can redefine alliances in less confrontational terms.

Venus in Pisces
Saturday, April 11, 5:47 am PDT, 8:47 am EDT

Retrograde Venus slips back into her sensitive sign of exaltation for less than two weeks. It’s a chance to revisit dreams of love and tap into streams of compassion and imagination. There may be some melancholic memories, but it’s really a time to celebrate the present moment by tenderly nurturing your heart’s desires.

Venus Direct
Friday, April 17

The end of the love planet’s six-week retrograde period will allow the wheels of relationship to start moving forward again. It may take a week or two to put recent romantic, social or artistic ideas into action, but once Venus returns to pioneering Aries on April 24 the pace will quicken.

Sun in Taurus
Sunday, April 19, 3:45 pm PDT, 6:45 pm EDT

The Sun brings gentle warmth in Taurus, encouraging languorous moments of relaxation that remind us of how sweet life can be. Yet the Bull is also practical, sharpening awareness of our needs and values and cultivating resources to maximize the chances for material success. The sign’s shadow is a reflexive resistance to change. The application of pressure will only encourage Taurus to hold its ground. A gentler, less direct approach is more effective in working around sticking points than trying to overpower them.

Mars in Aries
Wednesday, April 22, 6:44 am PDT, 9:44 am EDT

Macho Mars is raw, rapid, rebellious and reckless in its fiery home sign. It provides a spark to ignite excitement and initiate new projects. We may be quicker to anger, though, as emotional responses tend to be unfiltered. The desire for intense engagement can trigger erotic impulses and enterprising ventures. Physical activity is a good way to drain off excess energy and channel competitive instincts in a healthy direction.

Venus in Aries
Friday, April 24, 12:18 am PDT, 3:18 am EDT

Venus re-enters Aries after a dizzying retrograde cycle and return visit to dreamy Pisces. Now the wheels of love are ready to roll at high speed, pushed along by an impatient Mars to awaken brave hearts and spur romantic adventures. A taste for new people and experiences creates possibilities for connecting for singles and reminds couples to put more spice into their relationships.

_______________________________________________________________
The New Moon in Aries is one of the major launching pads for the astrological year. It’s a time of risk taking and exploration, when looking ahead is more important than standing pat. This lunation is colored by questions of self-worth and fears of economic contraction. However, the bright spirit of Aries is a reminder that we have the power to act positively and bring desirable changes into our lives.

Have a great month!

Think Of These Things

Think Of These Things

29

The greatest tragedy of life is not that we quarrel with our fellows, but that we do not take time to know them.

In his great understanding of man and nature, Thoreau wrote, “Let a man take time enough for the most trivial deed.” Take time.

How often what seems to be an unfriendly atmosphere is only a lack of time. Some of our dearest friends are hidden behind the mask of hurry. And we need so desperately to know each other.

Understanding comes when people are allowed to talk to one another. They discover the ways and needs, the loves and hopes, and the despairs and fears when they take enough time to speak of them. All these things that make for understanding and compassion come from personal contact and the knowledge and practice of good will.

People become more civilized, more peaceful, more as God intended them to be when they take time to make friends out of acquaintances.

To be a good listener endears many a friendship. Everyone needs someone with whom to talk at length on all subjects without later regret. It has been written, “What a great blessing is a friend with breast so trusty that you may bury all your secrets in it.”

And how often we need to be that friend and be the listener, and to make sure we are worthy of that trust.

Listening comes in many ways. We listen with all our senses, knowing many times without having to be told what someone’s needs are. Charles Dickens said that no one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it for anyone else. And it just may be by listening that we lighten another’s load.

Sometimes we listen with our hearts and understand in silence. Sometimes we simply have to put ourselves into a situation to understand all sides of it. And we best do so by listening.

There are relationships in our lives better and closer that the ordinary. Closer yet than brothers or sisters are those with whom we can share all our secrets, we think.

What a sad state of affairs when life imparts that others cannot always be trusted. What a shock to realize we have given all our hearts and bared our souls to people whose curiosity was the only motive that compelled them to listen.

Phillip Massinger, sixteenth century poet, wrote, “I have played the fool, the gross fool to believe the bosom of a friend would hold a secret mine own could not contain.”

Not one of us can testify that we have nothing within our lives and thoughts that we cannot reveal. And many of us have not expressed our innermost thoughts because we have found no one in whom we can confide.

As Shakespeare said, “Many a man’s tongue shakes out its master’s undoing.” Sometimes the loquacious tell their secrets not our of a need to tell them, but out of a love of talking.

One of the greatest feelings in the world is to discover we haven’t told something we cherish very much to someone we once thought we could trust.

Few people go through life without some kind of trauma. But everyone doesn’t react the same way. Certain experiences are magnified by pain and kept alive by distressed memory – so hostile conditioning is the result. Our own included. Nothing is ever fixed by glossing it over or covering it up. We cannot change what has already happened, but we can lessen the effect by putting it in perspective. It happened, it hurt, it still hurts. Talking about it makes it more vivid – but writing it in a personal journal takes it out of us and puts it somewhere else. Seeing it in black and white brings it into focus – and ultimately helps heal our wounds.

Elder’s Meditation Of The Day

Elders Meditation Of The Day

531z

Balance is implicit in the Red Road. When you’re on the Red Road, you are in the center. Yet, you do not go to either extreme, and you allow both sides to exist. This is accomplished by continually postponing surrendering to temptation, whatever it may be. It is saying `later’ instead of `no.'” –Dr. A.C. Ross (Ehanamani), LAKOTA

The Sacred Path of life has a middle, a left side, and a right side. As human beings, we are designed to walk this middle path as much as we can. As we walk, we will stray to the left and to the right and come back to the middle. Straying to the left or right side is as sacred as being in the middle. Sometimes we call this straying our mistakes. We are designed by the Creator to walk to Sacred Path of life, and realize that our mistakes are the source of lessons. These lessons give us our wisdom. It is not wrong that we are tempted. What matters is what we do with the temptation.

Great Spirit, today, let me enjoy the Sacred Path of Life.
